A sunrise long exposure of the Richfield Pier as it extends out to Rincon Island just south of Santa Barbara, CA in Ventura County on Highway 101. A cloudless sky gave me little color to work with for sunrise, so I opted to use a more stark tone in editing.

The crystal clear and dark skies offer some amazing views not often seen in California. The small dot of light on Half Dome is one of two climbrs camped out on the sheer face of the dome in a portaledge tent this May night.
The view up CA Route 101 directly over the Golden Gate Bridge and into Marin County. There's an awesome vantage point off of Lincoln Blvd that gives you this view.
A coyote scoping out my food situation along the edge of the forest in Yosemite National Park. Coyotes generally avoid humans if they can help it, but like many wild animals in national parks, years of close contact and the occasional (illegally) tossed food scrap can lead to some confrontations that are a little to close for comfort. Thankfully this girl kept a safe distance and gave me an awesome photo.

Never underestimate the beauty of a perfectly weathered surface, left untouched for years but for the coastal winds and the salt water spray of the Pacific Ocean. A lighthouse was only steps away, but the story of the fence and the colors of the coastal landscape was what drew me in for the capture.
