Lofoten Islands Norway

I just returned from a 10 day shoot in the Lofoten Islands, centered on the spring equinox. The spring and autumnal equinoxes are supposedly the most active times for the aurora, and that certainly played out during my trip.
One of the things you don't really think about until you're out shooting is how much some foreground light can really help a night scene, be it the Milky Way or the Aurora. A completely black sky can make the foreground elements extremely noisy, if not impossible to see. I took this shot from a pullout on the very edge of the village of Ramberg (pop. 350), which provided a nice glow on the mountains on this calm moonless night.Marchauroraaurora borealislofoten islandsnorthern lightsnorwayrambergsnowy mountains
