Washington DC Photography
The first rays of sunrise spill into the Tidal Basin and onto the bright pink and white petals of the cherry blossom trees as the Washington Monument stands watch over DC. A perfectly clear Sunday sky provides the perfect setting for the tens of thousands of visitors taking in the scene across the city this weekend.
A Washington Metro train fills the Chinatown station's architectural ceiling grid with shadows almost like a video game, as it roars into the station and blocks the light eminating from between the tracks. One of the few uses of brutalist architecture that I personally like, the entire Washington Metro system was built in this style.
A friend came to visit early in early March, so we decided to go downtown and take in some of the sights for awhile. On the way out the door, I decided to bring my camera along just in case, completely forgetting that the Spring bloom extended past cherry blossom season. Well rewarded I was, with tulips in dozens of colors scattered all around the City, lending to some incredible shots.
There's nothing like a complete re-edit of an old favorite. This 3 shot HDR of the classic Washington DC lineup brings out the stunning colors of Autumn. Re-processed using Photomatix 4.2 with noise removal done on the sky in Photoshop have made this a much sharper, cleaner edit than my first attempt two years ago.
Washington DC: Vietnam Memorial
The rising sun illuminates the Vietnam Wall in golden light with the Washington Monument in the background in downtown Washington DC.
Cherry Blossoms at the Washington Monument
One of my favorite pictures of all time... the Washington Monument rises beyond the stunning bloom of fresh cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin.
National Mall: Last Rays of Sun
There's nothing quite like watching the sun set over DC's majestic monuments.
